Hollywood City Inn

Look this isn’t some super fancy hotel with chocolate on the pillows, but it is extremely nice for the price. I stayed here for a couple days now while working down the street at the palladium. The hotel/rooms are honestly better than i expected but what really sets this place apart is the staff. The man that checked us in was so nice and helpful. Had us book the room online because it was cheaper (and didn’t give us a hard time about it or make us wait - had keys 2 minutes after booking online- the delay was due to my filling out the vehicle info) very clean rooms. No bugs. Quiet place overall. Nice shower. Microwave. I mean… what more could you want. Big shout out to the gentleman that checked us in. Your kindness was genuine and I appreciate you.

For a 2 star hotel I would say this would pass for its great location. About a 12 minute drive to Universal and very close to the 101. A lot of places to eat within a mile. You can walk to Target if you need essentials (just watch were you are stepping and you may have to hold your breath a bit and not at night). The beds were comfortable. The room staff were very nice. The rooms were clean except for some dust that hardened with the moisture from the window. If you are facing the streets, it may be a bit noisy, window are not sound proof. Parking was adequate. There is a small pool but we did not try it. There were a couple of things things we did not like though. First, the room (312) we were given had an AC that you could not adjust the temperature. This hotel is perfect for those who want be within walking distance to the Hollywood walk of fame and the Griffith Observatory hiking trail. It's also possible to hike the Hollywood sign if you don't mind longer trails. The room was basic and does the job. The free parking was a blessing for us and we really appreciated this. The swimming pool, although was small, was very relaxing and well maintained. The main downside is the safety of the area surrounding the hotel. We felt safe within the grounds of the hotel, but outside there were many scary homeless people.

The first room A/C did not work. We were told they would bring us extra blankets, never saw them. Also, it was not clean. They try covering up smells with strong spray. Urine and Moldy smell. Sticky and dirty floors. Blood on the shower walls. Mold on windows. We ask the manager for another room. He said that was the only room he had until the next day. I asked him why we were given an only room left if we paid the for the room in full and in advanced. There was no internet. The rooms are not like the picture's on the website
