Holiday Inn Express & Suites Heath - Newark

I booked this hotel for a large group several months out from our event. Communication from the hotel was great until a few months out, when I stopped getting responses to my emails. Even after emailing 3 different people and confirming those email addresses via phone call, no one responded to my emails’ questions. When we got to the hotel, there was no organized room assignment list. We were given keys and told to figure it out, which was confusing and disorganized (despite us providing our rooming lists before arriving - see above about unanswered emails). Besides the disorganization, the hotel had assigned us rooms of the wrong types - single beds instead of doubles - without notifying us before our arrival. Stayed here two weeks ago, and it was a superb stay. I had questions before my stay, and every time I called, I received excellent and attentive customer service. It was also nice that when I called, I was actually speaking to someone at the hotel and not some distant call center. ||Upon walking into the hotel, I was impressed with the lobby area. Very warm and inviting, also decorated with a lovely fall theme. For me, that went above the usual lobby presentation, b/c it takes effort and desire to want to decorate to a seasonal theme. I was warmly greeted and got checked into my room. ||The hotel was also able to accommodate my room request. The room was clean, and the beds were very clean and comfortable. As stated in the title, the hotel is nicely renovated and the pool is nice. The rooms were clean and the beds comfortable, but there was no hot water in our shower. Members of my family showered during different parts of the day and the water temperature ranged from lukewarm to cold. I asked the front desk attendant and she said it’s a problem when the hotel is full. She offered to text a coworker to see if there were any solutions and she would call our room… we never heard from her. Also, we requested extra bath towels as our room was only stocked with 2 and we are a family of 5, she said they were out of bath towels so we had to take small, thin pool towels to use. Not ideal, but easily overlooked had there been hot water. Also, there weren’t a lot of food options for breakfast. I can’

I have stayed at this location for work last year and almost 4 months this year. I recently had some interaction with a young lady at the front desk, Victoria. She is always very helpful and friendly if I need assistance. She has always been kind and respectful when I need towels or a new room key. It is always a pleasure to meet a young person that makes the customer feel important and valued. I’ve never heard Victoria complain and she is always helpful when I need something. Each time I come in during her shift, she is always available at the front desk. If I managed a hotel like this, I would hire 3 more just like her. Mark P

The hotel was clean and what you would expect from a Holiday Inn Express. However, there was no clerk at the front desk when I arrived. I had to wait for approximately 10 minutes until she returned. She was not professionally dressed: in a pair of sweat pants and a winter jacket. There were two signs taped to the front desk that said “Keurig coffee makers available upon request”. I requested one and she responded “we’re out. People kept stealing them, so the owners took them out of the room. All the customers took them earlier “. I could not believe it. She suggested I come down to the lobby when I want coffee. I think they would have enough coffee makers on hand to provide for their customers. There was also a shortage of towels in the bathroom. No hand towel at the sink, no spare towels
