Holiday Inn Express & Suites Carthage by IHG

The hotel was clean, modern, and easy to check into. We were placed on the second floor next to the elevator, which I thought would be noisy, but it was surprisingly quiet. The bigger issue was highway noise, which woke us up during the night. The air conditioner worked well but seemed to run on a motion sensor—once we were asleep, the room would get warm until someone got up and moved, which was frustrating. There were also several blinking lights in the room from various devices, so bringing a small piece of tape to cover them is on my list for next time. The pool and hot tub were closed for the entire four-night stay, which was disappointing. There was no ice machine on the second floor, but the third floor had one. On the positive side, the second floor did have laundry facilities. B

I would definitely stay here again. It was clean and comfortable. I am a little picky when it comes to hotels. I expect a clean room with a comfortable bed. (NOT that picky I guess) I walked into the lobby and it not only looked clean it smelled clean. My room was nice and very comfortable. The toilet in my bathroom flooded the floor every time I flushed it. I notified the staff when I left in the morning and when I returned later that day it was fixed and everything was cleaned up in my room. The staff went above and beyond to make my stay a great one. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

I find it really irritating when I can’t have an a/c on at night due to the controls being locked. Also the controls are on the wall so if no motion is detected the unit will turn off; for me this is a problem waking up in hot sweats.

During a difficult time in Carthage Texas this establishment failed in serving its community to the bare minimum. Panola county was under a declared emergency from a severe ice storm. Many families sought refuge in this hotel, spending what little funds they had to ensure shelter and warmth in a time of need. Instead of the hotel being a part of the community they service they decided it would be the perfect opportunity to take advantage of their customers by charging unwarranted cleaning fees to make a profit off of a natural disaster. Instead of communicating and rectifying the situation they forced the customers with complaints to leave and back into the conditions they were seeking relief from. They do not care about the well being of the paying customers and have no intention to carry

I had checked in this hotel for a couple days. I have a habit when I go into any hotel to spray it down with Lysol so as I was spraying the bed pillows I had saw a blood stain. I pulled the sheets back and found blood spots on the sheets. I had told the front desk the had someone to come change the sheets for me. I asking if they had another room and she said no.
