Holiday Inn Express Columbus South - Obetz by IHG

Hotel is nice and clean. Breakfast is good. But the staff is so rude. Im the paying guest. If I come ask for a towel or purchase something from the little store then it is ur job to get off ur phone and help me. The staff here is constantly on phones. Talking very loud and wont even put the phone down to help u. I been to alot of hotels in ohio and other states and the front desk is normally very friendly. Also correcting someone's kid is not ur job. That is my job. It would be a better hotel if they hired better staff. Friendly staff.

Late arrival due to attending a nearby festival, check in was quick and easy, but the front desk host stated she was locking the front door. I found that odd the front door would be locked. Room seemed cleaned, didn’t look around much. Shower was great but it was clogged, so the tub filled up with water as I was showering, and the cheap curtain didn’t protect from the bathroom floor getting wet. Come to find out later the shower had leaked into the room below us. Front desk did try to contact us while we were out for the day, but I missed the call. Maintenance did fix the issue but left a used dirty pen that they may have used on the tub on the sink near our toiletries. the side door near our room was broken, the key entry didn’t work at all and if you pulled hard enough the door just open

Positive: Location. Breakfast was good. Not great, but decent options. Negative: Girl checked us in wasn't completely rude, but certainly not hospitable. I had to clean our table for breakfast as they were all dirty (it wasnt that busy yet) and as i did so an employee just watched me...still never saw any of them get cleaned after.

We had less than 5 minutes of WARM water this morning!! There is a $50.01 deposit. When checking in around 6pm yesterday, the staff said I wld get it back immediately at checkout but morning staff told me it can take 3-5 business days so we'll see. When I asked yday why it wasn't charged with the reservation she rolled her eyes and very rudely informed me it's paid when checking in. She gave me the keys and didn't say another word. No thank u or enjoy ur stay- didn't even point me to the room. U cld tell she did not want to be there. She was terrible and needs to find another profession. Also, we received a phone message at checkout and I really wish the staff had put the call through to our room- how hard is that?? Avoid this hotel at all costs. This was, without exaggeration, one of the worst lodging experiences I’ve ever had. We arrived late, and instead of being greeted professionally, we had to wake up the front desk agent who was asleep on the job. That set the tone for what turned out to be a completely unacceptable stay. The staff was consistently rude, and the manager was dismissive and clearly uninterested in addressing any concerns. The room was falling apart: the carpet was curling up, tiles were chipped and popping loose, and the bathroom air vent was barely hanging on. It felt neglected and unsafe.
