Holiday Inn Express Chicago NW-Vernon Hills

I recently stayed at this hotel over the course of a week for a business trip. Right from the start, check-in was quick and easy and front staff were friendly. Throughout my stay the room was cleaned very well every day and all the public areas were clean and well maintained. Whenever I needed something, staff was friendly, helpful, and fast at accommodating my requests. My go-to’s for the free breakfast were the fresh fruits and pastries, but your typical warm breakfast items (sausage, eggs) were also available. The surrounding area had a large variety of food within 5 minutes walking distance of the hotel, which I appreciated because I had issues with the car rental company and found myself without a car throughout my stay. We stayed here for one night as a stop on our family road trip. This property met and exceeded all of our expectations. The hotel is clean and modern. The front desk attendant was friendly and check in was quick and easy. The room was clean and even if it wasn’t big it had a lot of nice spaces and furniture to organize our luggage and belongings. It didn’t feel cramped at all. The beds were super comfy, even the sleeper sofa had a nice, new mattress which my son said was much more comfortable than most. I liked the little touches like complementary eye masks or ear plugs available to get a good night’s sleep but they weren’t needed since the property was quiet. We had a weekend stay at this location. The room size was wonderful however we were assigned a connecting room which was a big mistake. The walls were not soundproof but the connecting door allowed us to hear everything said in the connecting room. Not good for late night and early morning conversations. The breakfast menu was pretty much the same omelet and sausage every morning. No hard boiled eggs. The breakfast potatoes were not crispy. They were soft and mushy. The first morning, I tried pouring milk into my coffee and it came out in lumps. Totally disgusting.

Stayed for a brief overnight doing travel for business. The room was very clean and the staff was very friendly. The breakfast was good. Had a cinnamon roll was juice and yogurt. The traditional breakfast staples were there as well; toast, cereal, scrambled eggs and sausage. The pancake machine was out. My inner child was bummed about that one. But as far as a quick hotel stay goes, cheap and easy.

So I decided to do a quick review of this hotel to just recognize the staff for their great customer service. I recently stayed there over the weekend and had one of trips where my brain was stuck on forgetting everything, to include a jacket in the hotel closet. When I called the hotel, the staff was great in finding my left behind item and getting it back to me on the 13th of January around 3pm. Unfortunately I realized that may have forgotten another item so I sheepishly had to call again on the 16th around noon. Although it turns out that item was not left behind, I want to recognize the staff for their excellent work and professionalism in helping me on this matter.
