Historic Caledonia Inn

A coworker and I stayed here while we were in town for business. The rooms were recently renovated and I was impressed with the finishing details and care to preserve the historic charm. Overall, the rooms were very clean, beds were comfortable, and the local owners were really nice to work with at all points of our stay. If you are in town or even in the area and need a place to stay, I highly recommend the Historic Caledonia Inn.

My husband, adult son and I stayed in the Robert’s Room. We had two queen size beds in adjoining rooms with a bathroom. The beds were comfortable and the bedding soft and immaculate. The bath and rooms were recently remodeled so everything is a combination of new fixtures with an historical aura. It is very quiet and Betsy is fabulous to work with. There is a coffee shop, a bakery and a restaurant all steps away. We look forward to returning.

This inn is a wonderful hidden gem! My husband and I absolutely loved our visit and will definitely return when in the area. The owner, Betsy, was so accommodating and personable. She runs a 5 star inn! The inn was very clean and tastefully decorated. The bed was so comfortable with wonderful linens and pillows! The town, although very small, was quintessentially charming with a cafe next to the inn, that we visited twice. Both lunch and breakfast were delicious. The bakery across the street was sinfully good as well! I highly recommend this inn !

I'll start with the positive. Nice and clean. Friendly owner. The negative. Street lights directly outside window. Only shades and no curtains to block out light and street noise. When other guests arrived in the middle of the night and turned on hall lights, it was light enough to read with the light coming in the tramsom windows above room doors. No rugs in the hallway, so you can hear every footstep. There is no one for check-in or check out. It was fun to see this building but got zero sleep and wasted too much time during the confusion of check-in and out.

Don't miss it -- we Florida-Keys people expect top-end hotels - here we found it in our Minnesota trip two weeks ago. --- The Historic Caledonia Inn is an elegant hotel experience straight out of 19th century small town Minnesota. Modernized in necessary details, it has the amenities of a first class hotel (minus a restaurant/bar --- to keep its 1885 theme). Although the original over-door transoms allow some ambient light into the rooms, that was not a bother. Slept like a log in this super-quiet setting. Fast wifi, good a/c, stiff mattresses, the works. Staff will give you a tour through the fascinating historical items and photos - and they don't expect a tip for that. So I happily refrained.
