Hideout Mountain

I booked a tent spot in the Cove. The weather was cold at night (low 40's) so I decided to car camp. Beautiful space! There was a picnic table and a fire pit, with plenty of spare branches on the ground to burn. The toilet was a short walk away and very clean. Camp hosts are really friendly! Close enough to downtown Julian and the California Wolf Center (both great places to visit). The cabins looked well kept. I will definitely be back!

Wonderful getaway not far from San Diego. If not familiar with the area recommend driving up during the daylight. Bring your groceries if you just want to hunker down and relax - be sure to look up at the stars at night. Team we encountered on site was very friendly. Will definitely be back! Camping at San Diego Mountain Lodge has the best of everything! I was blown away by the beautiful view of Lake Henshaw, all the cattle and the stars at night. Just that little bit of elevation above nearby Josie's saloon gave us the best sweeping view. It felt so secluded, but within walking distance to Josie's for great food and drinks, and a 25 minute drive to Julian for pie or coffee. The campground has accommodations for tent camping, RV, or cabins. We stayed in the tiny house and it was idyllic for two people two dogs. In October the weather was absolutely great! Not too hot or cold. Had a wonderful stay! Great motorcycle riding nearby. Bobby was a great host and helped us out with firewood. Can't wait to go back!

We stayed at the Tipsy cabin at Hideout Mountain and had a great experience. The cabin is very comfortable for two people, clean, and cozy. The staff is always attentive and friendly, and the location is very peaceful with beautiful views. Definitely worth it — we would love to come back!

Perfect place for a weekend getaway near Julian. The cabin is very nice. The view is amazing. It was the perfect place for our weekend in Julian. We loved the drive through Wynola to Julian. Keep in mind it is a drive to Julian, but it's a gorgeous drive. Check in was super easy. There was shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in the shower. There was water for the Keurig. We enjoyed sitting on the porch and having a glass of wine at sunset. There is a firepit so bring wood. The inside of the cabin is beautifully decorated and cozy. Loved our stay and will stay again.
