Hickory Hammock Equestrian Campground

Nice campground with a friendly host. Clean and well maintained. FREE site with reservations through the water management website. The rest rooms are vault toilets but are clean and the shower is a cold water outdoor shower. The downsides were the noise from the airboats in the morning and the 2.5 miles of slightly wash board road (it’s not terrible if you take your time)

Hickory Hammocks Campground is a part of S Florida Water Management system and offers a unique camping experience. It was for me very peaceful and enjoyable. Don’t be afraid of what goes bump in the night as it may be wild hogs searching nearby for food. It sounded intimidating but once I spotted them I felt at ease. Reservations are required to visit.

Our experience at Hickory Hammock Campground has been simply excellent. Felix and Audrey are outstanding hosts—very attentive, kind, and always willing to help. From the very first moment, they made us feel welcome and truly cared for. The campground, even though it is free, is very clean, well organized, and clearly maintained with love and dedication. The peaceful atmosphere and the personal attention make the experience truly special. We have stayed at other campgrounds that we have paid for, and honestly, we have never received the level of care or treatment that we experienced here. Beautiful campground, lots of sun or shade which ever you like. Some sites have picnic tables and fire pits. Composting toilets, cold shower, probably warm in summer. A large barn with stalls for horses. Potable and nonpotable water available.

I love this campground! The hosts are really nice and the atmosphere is peaceful. There is plenty of space and When I have come here it is not crowded at all. There is a water spout available. Each spot has a picnic table and a fire ring. There is non flush toilets and non heated showers. Not luxurious in that way but exactly what I needed! There is a really beautiful and maintained trail that is connected to the campground. The perfect getaway in nature.
