Heaven's Gate RV and Retreat

Wonderful camp host named Miss B makes such a wonderful dinner and breakfast it is worth the trip, not to mention the trails were well kept and very well marked. Super friendly people at the camp and owner was on pointat helping us get the app downloaded and onto the right trails! We will definitely be going back

I feel compelled to warn other horse owners and travelers about my experience with Heavens Gate RV and Retreat and the owner’s shocking disregard for the current equine disease outbreak affecting both Texas and Oklahoma. I reached out to cancel my reservation out of basic caution and responsible horse ownership, given the current epidemic and the clear recommendations from veterinarians and state officials to limit travel with horses. Instead of showing any concern for animal welfare or public safety, the owner hid behind their 21-day cancellation policy and showed zero flexibility even in the middle of an active outbreak. Spent 6 beautiful nights and days horse camping at Heaven’s Gate. Stayed in the camper located on the banks of Billy Creek with all the amenities needed plus special meals by B’s Kitchen located on site (by reservation). Horse trails are well marked with paper maps available but used the CalTopo app for precise locations. Great trip!

I come here several times every year. The place is always immaculately clean, staff and owner gonout of their way to accommodate guests. Trails right out of camp are as challenging or easy as you desire. Do shoe your animals its quite rocky. The onsite Chef is from Belgium and never disappoints. Some come by just to eat on the weekends but call at least a day ahead to make sure she plans enough food to accommodate you.

We had an incredible time on our trip to Heaven's Gate. We are hikers, not riders, so we weren't sure if it would be a great fit for us but it really was. The trails out here are gorgeous and the folks are all real welcoming and friendly. Brigitte, our camp host, was more than accommodating and made the experience even more beautiful than it already was on its own. She makes breakfast on request and dinner on Fridays and Saturdays, all delicious (we missed Sunday brunch but heard great things about it). She even brought us her personal microwave from her own home when the one in our cabin sparked and stopped working.
