Place is OK for one or two nights, but I wouldn’t recommend anything beyond that. Rooms are showing their age and use, with things such as loose plumbing fixtures, worn and soiled carpet, etc. Climate control in the room was weird and not described correctly by the placard on the heating/cooling unit. Breakfast was mediocre: oatmeal was runny, omelets were dry and obviously made the previous day(s), sausage was weird. Pool was closed for renovation, but we were not told this until after we were booked. And no reduction of the room rate. We had an eight year old in our group, and he really wanted to use the pool. Very disappointed, obviously 🙁
Positive: Location and service Negative: The hotel is dated. Carpets are getting old, hair dryer smelled like it could burn when I used it, the floor in the room needed vacuuming, tv didn't work had to call technician
Overall my stay was pleasant. Check in and out staff were kind, safe area, clean room and bathroom.||BUT I couldn't get past the moldy and mildewy smell in my room. Main smell was coming from the bathroom, where you could even see the mold on the ceiling. (See pic) I don't think it was the AC filter. When my neighbor flushed or used the shower, I could hear dripping in the ceiling, so I'm guessing that's the issue.||Family members staying on a different floor said they didn't have that issue, so must've been my room or floor (3rd floor).||Other potential downsides were not a ton of TV channels and the "vending and ice room" didn't have a vending machine.
Lacks nearby dining and shopping options. The tub hadn’t been cleaned. Had mold and dirt inside. Bathroom floor was sticky. Toilet was not scrubbed. Only thing they did was replace the towels. The beds looked decent. I was only using one but being that the bathroom was so dirty I second guessed whether they had taken short cuts on the linen as well. First morning I woke up sick. I’m allergic to mold so I’m wondering if this contributed to it. I did utilize the tea and coffee station downstairs in the lobby, which I’d say is the highlight of this hotel. It’s well maintained and always well stocked. I did go to eat breakfast one morning and the sausages looked undesirable and greasy and the eggs..well of course they’re powdered eggs so they look like most hotel eggs. The oatmeal was dried o
Hello. My friend booked a room here at the Columbia Illinois hotel for a homeless couple. She is a widow and did this out of the kindness of her heart. She was told that she would need a credit card to put on file to take out 80 dollars for essentials and will get the money back within a week after the couple checked out. The couple said they never got any snacks. They did not give her back the 80 dollars. She asked for a breakdown of a receipt and they said they couldn't do it. She paid for 4 nights. This is so sad. Please beware! This is so sad. She was trying to help a couple during a period of really cold temperatures and this. The woman at the desk told her today to talk to her bank and see if they will give her money back. ? ? ?
