Deeply Concerning Safety and Security Issues Our experience at this hotel was extremely disappointing and, more importantly, unsafe. Upon arrival, we were given keys to our assigned room. When we reached the door, the key didn’t work, so we had to run back to the lobby. The front desk handed us new keys to the same room. This time the key worked—but when we opened the door, we discovered the room was already occupied. Not only was this a major invasion of privacy for the guests staying in that room, but it also created a serious safety concern for us. The main reason I stay at this motel is the location. Most of the time I will walk to the places I want to go. It has a nice breakfast buffet that is included with the room. The one complaint I have is the size of the bathroom. It is very small and there is no counter space.

Pretty sure we found a couple of bed bugs on our luggage bag once we arrived home. Not a good feeling. Also not a good feeling paying what we did rate wise and then having to pay addtional parking fee??

Our experience was a fiasco from the word go. Upon arrival, our door key would not work due to the “battery” in the door device being dead. After 3 trips back and forth to the office, the hotel clerk finally just gave us a “master” key. The thought alone is quite scary…who else has a master key? Does that mean it fits all door locks? Not once did she offer to move us to another room as the door was dysfunctional. At 1am the smoke alarm beeps a few times then stops… at 348am it begins again beeping incessantly. We call down to the front desk and we’re told to take the batteries out. Wow… okay. Not as much as an offer to come check it out? Was he worried about fire detection? We have been staying here at this location for years. We just stayed here this spring and now again this fall. Upon arrival this fall we were hit with a 15.00 a day parking charge (surprise). The free parking was one benefit that kept us coming back to this location since it is right downtown. The internet was very spotty, couldn't make it through 30 minutes of a movie without it freezing up. Not the fault of Hampton, but instead of getting woke up by a rooster you'll get startled awake by a trash truck at 0500 that sounds like a bomb. We have always had a pleasant experience with the staff. Also the fact they allow fur babies is great. It is 75.00 of course. The room was clean except for the carpet.
