Great Camp Sagamore

Our guide Maura gave us an excellent tour covering the history and daily operation of this playground of the Vanderbilt family. The life and death of Alfred is a dramatic story. The parties at Camp Sagamore attracted celebrities like Gary Cooper and Richard Rogers. The architecture of the buildings is grand lodge style and in perfect condition. I highly recommend a visit. The lunch was also delicious food.

Went there for the college retreat and had an amazing time. Beautiful location as adjacent to the lake. Cell signal is very weak but it was nice to debrief from electronics a bit and enjoy the nature. The service staff were very helpful and accommodating. We were able to do fun activities such as bowling and kayaking. Food was also plentiful but the only thing was that they could've had more options and also clearly label the food dishes in the dining room.

We had a wonderful guide that made two hours fly by. Maura was excellent. She shared history in a captivating dialogue and shared funny details that kept your attention. It was easy to imagine what guests experienced long ago. Well worth the money and time. We bought the package that included lunch which was very good.

A cool day but sunny. Our guide had a personal connection the Camp Sagamore making the tour that much more enjoyable and relevant. Her grandfather and father both worked there and lived there. She had alot of stories. We did the history tour and stayed for lunch and there was even bowling! A lovely dat spent. We had never been to Raquette Lake.

History Tour|We took a tour with our guide Daniel of the many buildings at Great Camp Sagamore . He was impressive with the way he spoke about the history, the architecture, and the current situation at Camp Sagamore. Anyone interested in this type of living history would enjoy this tour. It gave us a fabulous understanding of the way these “camps” evolved in this wilderness. Thanks for a stimulating and interesting afternoon.
