Golden Eagle Motel

I paid $34 including fees for a single king room via Booking.com. This motel met or exceeded my expectations for a room with such a bargain price. The bed was comfortable, the sheets were clean, the heater worked, the shower was hot, there were no bugs. The roof didn’t leak. I really only docked a star because the lighting was harsh and the bathroom was just barely less clean than I wish it was. But overall, this place is a heck of a good deal.

Room didn't look like the photos on line. Motel is extremely poorly maintained (if at all). How did this motel ever get an AAA diamond rating? Has there been a change of ownership? Bedsheets were clean but the rest was so bad it’s almost laughable. Cabinets around sink area had empty beer bottles & trash in them. Microwave is right next to the only tiny sink— but the outlet to plug it in is less than 3” from sink: this is an ELECTROCUTION HAZARD: this cannot be to code! See photos. Fridge won’t work because its cord is too short to reach same outlet. TV didn’t work because the cable system hasn’t been hooked up. When I questioned the manager, she blamed this on the handyman. So why do they even rent the room out if so much is out of order? Parking area was littered & messy. Curtains

Clean, comfortable, quiet rooms. If this is on your path and you need a place to stay that’s a phenomenal value, stay here. Coffee available across the street, one block down.

Really, I can tell you're shaking your head and thinking "OK?!?" the rooms were very clean and comfortable, and the staff were lovely. The downside is there's not a lot of restaurant choices in-town after 6 p.m., which is not the fault of the hotel. My son n I had a lovely little escape for a reasonable price and we drove up and got a Blockbuster card. Unless you're super-picky you can't go wrong staying here.
