All the campgrounds I checked on hwy 58 were full. They looked OK, but none as nice as Gold Lake, where I found some vacant sites. What a coup! Best campsite of my 12000-mile moto adventure. No road noise. Pit toilet. Lakeside site would have been nice, but they were all taken. It got chilly when I was there July 9. Perfect weather.
Absolutely stunning campground and lake. The host Stacy makes this place even better, she is very attentive, kind, and friendly. The sites are very clean and quiet. I will be back again and really hope to see Stacy again.
Gold Lake is a small campground that is well maintained. If memory serves, they have 22 campsites. We stayed in site #2. All with a fire ring and picnic table, some have a fireplace with a cooking grate. They have well maintained pit toilets and potable water to pump into your own containers. The campground is full of huckleberries, which were ripe for the picking in mid-August. Gold Lake is a very calm and still lake, no motorized boats are allowed. There is a boat ramp for launching but there is no day use area for playing in the water without a boat. Some campsites have lake access but can only be accessed from the campsite. Clean toilets, nice sites, chill neighbors, horrible mosquitos. Worth the itch though for its proximity to Eugene and great fly fishing (flies only!) /kayak access. A network of trails from the parking lot links up with lots to see and do in the surrounding meadows and lakes including great views into the Diamond Peak area. 21 dollar camping fee per night. -1 star for not having a flat 20 dollar rate. C'mon now!
My favorite place in the world possibly (fly fishing lake) kayaker and swim crowd stay away find other adventures. No motors . No bait. Barbless Hooks . Throw ALL Rainbow back
