Gilchrist Guesthouse

The Captain Gilchrist House is a historic stay in an Ohio lakefront village. Sid and company will make you comfortable in whichever suite you choose. The dining room table in the gathering area is a great spot to enjoy coffee, a glass of wine, and more. You could say the same for the ballroom area. Be ready to climb some stairs! It's a classic Victorian, and stairs are part of life in the 1800s. The beds were comfortable, plus the bathrooms had plenty of towels, shampoo, soap, etc. We would return.

I had a comfortable stay here in July. The owner was helpful, the house was neat, and the location was wonderful. It was nice to be able to walk to the lake or walk into town.

everything was covered with dust. room had not been properly cleaned in quite a while. select treats did not exist. they were late to my appointment and still had to make up room.tv had service canceled and new one not yet started. total not as advertised. no decaf coffee which was a medical necessity. only enough water in cooler for one day.

Such a perfect room and location! And it was so easy to stay there too. Sid is so very kind and extremely responsive. We will definitely be back again one day.

Overall, this was a good experience. Excellent location very close to the Main Street Beach/Lighthouse and within easy walking distance to the shops downtown. Despite being a "B&B", the owner doesn't live on the property and there is no breakfast available in the house (we did find a $15 gift card to a restaurant downtown in our guestbook, though we passed on that as it was pretty much doughnuts and fast-food type breakfast sandwiches). Wasn't crazy about not having the owner on site--or the late check-in time of 4:00 p.m. (and we couldn't get in a minute sooner). Kinda weird set up inside. The bedroom was pretty tiny and claustrophobic, though the bed was very comfortable. Funky, streaming only TV with no local channels.
