Gatlinburg View Lodge

The correct date was June1, 1968. This motel was the perfect ending to a perfect day. And it was a beautiful beginning of Summer Day. Our wedding day, it was now 2:00 AM. It had been a long drive after a long day. Our wedding Mass had been at 4:00PM and then our reception. Back in the olden days, the couple opened all their presents after the reception meal. Both of them were at Saint James Church in Brooksville Kentucky. We went to Al’s parents’ home to change clothes for our long drive to Gatlinburg. It was a pretty long drive back then because I75 was not complete through the mountains. We should have spent our 50 th Wedding Anniversary at this motel. This is a truly lovely motel.

This place is a really good location, more private and close to attractions. It was quiet and near the woods, with the exception of the garbage truck banging the dumpster around at 4am. It's right next to the woods and they had a little hangout area with a fire pit which was nice. The fire pit had no propane. We booked the room for one night at $273 and I must say I was surprised to see that it's similar to a hostel. The beds are basically bunk beds with plastic mattresses pushed together and stacked for up to 4 guests. The beds aren't terrible but not comfortable either. The major problem I had was finding out we had NO HOT WATER and no way to bathe without freezing. There's nothing worse than walking all day,.feeling gross by the end of the day, then only to find out you don't have

We stayed in Room 204. We did not have access to T.V. It said to contact the front desk. When I contacted the front desk they said they would resolve the issue, but maintenance never came to help us. The mattress was comfortable, but the room smelled musty. When we left after our three day stay, I contacted the front desk again about the T.V. and no one responded to my text. The towels smelled clean, but were very rough. I would encourage you to bring your own bath towels. The view was great. The maids were friendly and nice. Okay value for the money.

Disliked · Gatlinburg view lodge has a very small parking lot with hardly any spaces. Upon opening the door to my room, the musky smell almost knocked me out. There were large brown stains on the carpet near the bed that were easily wiping up with a baby wipe. The shower had orange soap scum on the ledges. The water pressure was absolutely horrible. The water temperature was hardly room temperature. It didn’t get warm. There was a sign on the bathroom window that requested we open the window while showering for ventilation. Imagine taking a cold shower outside in the winter. There was no hand or bar soap! The ac was very outdated and kept cutting off. It boasts of a “contactless check in and out” which means they text you a room and a code to get in shortly before arriving. This also mean

Our room was comfy and clean with top notch mattresses, crisp white bedding, clean bathroom and friendly and helpful staff. Josh and Katy do a fabulous job of managing this hotel while providing personalized and friendly customer service. The fridge and microwave in our room were both new and the community kitchen was fully equipped and pristine. The community center was a nice area for us to spread out mid afternoon to either read books, play games or check our email. All in all, great stay! And you can't beat the price for this quality of comfort. We will definitely go back!
