First Settlers Lodge

We had such a wonderful stay at First Settlers Lodge. We accidentally messed up our booking and arrived a day later, and despite our mistake, the owners were incredibly kind and still reserved a room for us without hesitation. We ended up being the only guests staying at the lodge, which made the experience even more special and peaceful. The owners were so welcoming and accommodating, making us feel completely at home from the moment we arrived. The room was incredibly clean with not a single piece of dust ANYWHERE. In the morning, they prepared breakfast for us with no charge, despite being the only people staying there, which was the perfect start to the day. We stayed several nights with our large dogs and it was the highlight of our trip. Amazing staff, huge rooms, beautiful lodge with million dollar views. Breakfast is wonderful, best pancakes and eggs we’ve had in decades. They took care of every need we had and didn’t just tolerate our dogs, but welcomed them. The location is unbeatable- surrounded by fields of wildflowers with a view of Mt. Katahdin, East Grand Lake and Canada in the distance. Great fishing and hiking nearby. The staff is amazing. They welcome ATVers and snowmobilers, but is still quiet and romantic. Highly recommend!

We booked a little getaway for my birthday weekend and First Settler Lodge was the perfect pick! We’ve spent lots of time in cities and were drawn to the picturesque and quiet setting of the lodge. It exceeded all of our expectations both with the room and stay itself but also the hospitality. The owner, Alex, made us feel right at home. Dinner and breakfast were amazing. You need to get the crab cakes and whiskey sour. We already can’t wait to come back in the summer to hit the trails, but quiet time relaxing and reading was just what we needed this weekend! Incredible experience! When we needed last minute lodging that would accommodate our two large dogs, they made space for us even though they were in the middle of hosting a large party. We felt completely at home. They treated us like family but we also had complete privacy. The lodge is beautiful and immaculate. The grounds are stunning and the view is one of the best in this part of Maine. They provide breakfast every morning and the pancakes were some of the best we’ve ever had. We loved our stay and would return in a heartbeat.

First Settlers Lodge is the best. Alex and her husband do such an amazing job running their lodge. We have been there many times and look forward to returning in the future. The rooms are very clean and the lodge area is extremely comfortable. Thanks again to Alex and her team for providing many wonderful stays. We look forward to returning soon!
