Fife'n Drum Inn

Stayed here to hike. Sadly the rooms were under standard we hoped for. The bed was comfortable but that's the only thing in the room we liked. It was extremely old and not the cleanest. They do not have a front desk and are only available a few hours per day. They don't serve breakfast or coffee in the morning. You have to wait till about noon. There's no microwave. The restaurant on the other hand was really spectacular. Not only was the food very good but the live music and ambiance was excellent. I'll come back to eat at the restaurant but never again to stay at the motel.

We arrived for booking made well in advance Christmas night and found that the hotel had messed up our reservation. Instead of taking accountability for the mistake the owner hung up on us and later had a different employee call us to say we'd have to wait two hours in the cold for someone to arrive to somehow fix the mistake they had made. Staff seemed to have little idea of bookings or management, we were provided varying dates of when we'd booked (staff called once and texted once to confirm bookings, both times with different and incorrect dates.) I have family in the area and I understand this is a well-regarded restaurant but the inn seems to be an unprofessional operation unworthy of your business.||There are many inns and even motels in the area with competent ownership and profess

Items from my experience of importance: 1) If you plan to arrive AFTER the restaurant has closed, GOOD LUCK; there is no On Site staff. 2) My reservation dates got confused, although I had called to reconfirm and gave dates. There was no room for me. 3) No offer to give a room rate reduction due to confusion.4) There is NO outdoor light for external stairs. I felt unsafe hauling my luggage down the stairs early am to leave prior dawn.

Wonderful stay and great restaurant at Fife and Drum in Kent CT||I stayed the last two nights at the Fife and Drum in Kent CT. Had a ground floor room that was very comfortable and immaculately clean. ||Ate two dinners and a lunch at the Fife and Drum restaurant- well worth a visit. Gracious professional staff and excellent choices from the varied menu as well as cocktails, wine and beer. Had the Asian salad with the seasonal soft shell crab entree one night and the steak frites the other night. Absolutely delicious and perfectly prepared. Great desserts too. Kent is a lovely western CT town and the Fife and Drum is a perfect choice for a stay, an outstanding meal and/or drinks.

Shocking. Register at the restaurant? Clearly no one there knew much about the Inn, except to take our money. We were instructed to come back if we needed towels, etc. That wasn't comfortable. We walked over to the Inn, unlocked the door to our room, and opened onto a long, close staircase leading up to single locked door, which was our room. We felt rather trapped, especially with no other egress, and no staff available. The smoke detector casing was dark brown with age. ? Furnishings were sub-par, mismatched. No table to sit and eat or work. No glasses for drinks or water. The TV did not work well. Cleaning chemicals were stored in an unlocked bathroom floor cabinet. Kid safety?
