Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites Williamstown

I’ve been here for approximately three weeks due to travel for work. The hotel is relatively clean, but there are areas that could use more attention. Customer service has been a mixed bag, and as a platinum elite member, I expect more. Jose has been excellent! He’s always been helpful and kind, as well as the new employee who has been training with him. Also, Alejandro has been great and always helpful and thorough in his cleaning. Unfortunately, I have been less than impressed with the room and the amount of noise caused by customers below me. Even with foam ear plugs and brown noise in the background, the constant slamming of doors and drawers is HORRIBLE ! I’m appalled that a hotel could have such little noise barriers. I was a bit apprehensive given some of the lukewarm reviews, but we were very pleased by our stay here. It's obviously not a Westin or Renaissance Hotel, but it's the most beautiful Fairfield Inn I've ever seen (and I've seen my share). The common areas and the rooms are updated. Everything was in working order and clean. Unlike some reviewers, we found the rooms spacious and quiet. Breakfast was pretty good for a 3-star hotel. Parking was easy. Staff were friendly. Everything was in working order in the laundry room. The WiFi speed was OK. We were impressed.

This hotel is not maintained. The first room they showed us to was clearly used for smoking. When we returned to the front desk the attendant said a former employee used it for indoor smoking and they could not get the smell out. The second room they booked us in we found open food containers and the TV on upon entry. Either the room was not cleaned or someone had been using it for dinner. After confirming with the front desk attendant that we would not be charged we decided to leave the hotel and not check in/stay the night. The next day we received two separate bills for the room that charged our amex. I do not recommend booking this hotel. It is not clean, is significantly overpriced and they charge you even if you do not stay at the hotel.

I enjoyed my stay here but I’m giving it one star because of service. I was there a week ago and left some important items behind unfortunately, I called immediately the next day and had to call literally over 30+ times this week to even get a human. They said they had my items and that I had to file a report online and get in touch with the manager to have the items mailed. I said I needed them soon and would but happy to pay shipping. They told me to call back. I have called every day, left my name and number, left a voicemail for the manger, with no response. The front desk reps have been largely unhelpful, and one was rude and said “it’s not a big deal”. I noticed that the front desk employees were a bit off during my stay as well.
