Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites Tyler South

We booked a king bedroom suite at Fairfield by Marriott Inn and Suites Tyler South for Valentine’s weekend. I booked the room early, selected the member rate, and chose to pay in advance with no refund option if we had to cancel. We paid 116 dollars before taxes and fees, which was an excellent price. This hotel is now on our favorites list. Honestly, this is our favorite studio-style suite we have stayed in while visiting Tyler. The price was outstanding, and the hotel's quality and service exceeded anything I have experienced in a long time. The hotel is located in a great area of Tyler, Texas, close to excellent restaurants and shopping. It sits farther back from the road, which was perfect because we couldn't hear any traffic noise. Under renovation, not noted on site. Should be half price! Plastic in hallways, rooms under renovation left open with paint smells.||Do not stay here till finished. Booked thru Marriott Bonvoy. The breakfast was just adequate, not very good. Very disappointed.

The hotel is very nice and the room size and value were excellent. The breakfast is welcome and met expectations for a hotel of this price range. The gym was nice and equipped enough for a hotel of that size. The front desk staff were incredibly polite, helpful and cheerful always. The pool is undersized and that is a drawback, but quite honestly, the really big criticism that we had for our stay was with the cleaning staff. When they came to make up our room, they did not collect the trash, replace the toiletries or give us enough towels. Little things like that go a long way.

This hotel is meticulously clean, modern and new, with a fantastic free hot breakfast and such spacious group eating and sitting areas. The customer service and treatment of those staying is absolutely top notch and I travel a lot, and this particular Fairfield Inn and Suites is as nice as you can get- even top notch among the other Marriotts nearby which I love. There was a stark difference between this hotel and another Hilton brand hotel about a mile away that I needed to switch to for the purpose of the business why I was in town last week most especially in the cleanliness and quality of customer service areas plus they had no free breakfast and cost more. I can’t give any other details about rooms or the location, as while I was driving to the hotel, being 3.5 hours away, they cancelled our reservation. What made matters worse was all the hotels the hotels in the area were booked full. So, though my status with Marriott is supposed to guarantee my reservation, they cancelled it most likely to charge someone else a higher price. We ended up having to book a room in another city 45 minutes away. The hospital we were going to the next morning was right down the road from the original hotel that canceled us.
