Essex House and Tavern

I been coming here for over 15 years always great food … last weeend was the worst food I have ever eaten and the wait was over a hour and it wasn’t even busy.. The food I ordered a soup and a pastrami sandwich that was like trying to eat a rubber boot and that’s not even a joke I was served my sandwich which was not sliced meat it was a block of meat that was about a inch thick and I couldn’t even bit it ..the waitress ask would u like something eles I said no I waited over a hour for this she said yea Iam sorry ( not her fault at all ) I sent 4 back yesterday .got up and left my 3 friends stayed as there food was not great 125$ bill and that’s what u get served not right new owner needs to get his shit right

If you like to get to sleep before midnight this is not a good place to stay! Our room unfortunately was directly over the tavern. I wish I had known ahead of time that they have karaoke on Saturday night. It was so loud in our room there was no way to sleep through it and even after it wrapped up I could still hear noise from the tavern until about midnight! Aside from no sleep the rooms are basic but sufficient and clean. The staff are helpful and friendly. I need my sleep so this is not a place I would stay at again!

Place was alright. Room was always clean for the 2nights. Didn't realize that a standard bed meant full size not queen was a bit tight with 2 adults. Water pressure wasn't great and neither was not having a mini fridge. Was odd not having breakfast on a Saturday but thankfully the gas station/bakery did sell breakfast items. Food was just alright, but the molten chocolate lava cake was delicious.

I been coming here for the last 10-15 years snowmobiling.. This is our spot to stop and eat a great meal but that has changed this past weekend my group of 4 ordered in 5 mins of sitting down and waited over a hour to get our food all order sandwiches and soup 2 where ok the other 2 bad and when I say bad I ordered a pastrami sandwich when it came out it was a block of pastrami not sliced like deli meat a block I could not even bit it the waitress ask how everything was I said here is the rubber shoe I waited for over a hour and walked out … others sandwich was so burnt looks like it was in toaster for a week this is not ok but we will not be back island pond is going to shit with there food sad

Great service and staff ! The food was absolutely horrible, been coming to this place 15 years plus and have had great food until now!
