Empire Township Campground

If you like gentle Camping, where the water doesn’t beat you to death and you don’t have to step over other people this is the campground for you. You can get as close to the waters edge as you’d like to pitch your tent be prepared for weather throughout the night I have the most wonderful time in my life at that camp spot and I was completely alone. There was no one with me on my trip, but I’ve been there several times with someone in my family truly the most peaceful time you’ll ever have at the waters edge.

Go in knowing it’s camping and not the comforts of home. Be aware that there is (1) one flush toilet for 60 sites at the main entrance and (4) four pit toilets (2 men and 2 women) further into the campground. That’s it so have expectations in check. The pit toilets were very well maintained and seemed redone. There are three large-sized showers that are coin operated. You get 3 minutes for $.50 cents. Plenty of time unless you have long hair and you plan to shave then $1 is sufficient. Kids were in and out with $.50 cents. We stayed Mon-Fri the last week of July. We never waited for the shower and twice for the flush toilet in the morning. I can not speak to experiences over a weekend. Our site #7 was very well shaded and nicely maintained. This is one of the cutest campgrounds I have ever stayed in. The non electric sites feel like they’re deep in the woods, with massive tree canopy cover, and they’re huge. It almost feels like you’re not in a campground at all (in a good way). Really lovely. The only downside is: the showers are $0.50 for every 3 minutes. C’mon guys! Just get an Apple Pay terminal. Nobody carries quarters anymore!

Looooove it here! A marvelous stay every time! Staff is lovely. Camp sites are great. Drinking water access, ice for sale. Toilets are clean; flush toilet available if needed. Hot showers. Short drive to several beaches. It’s a real treat!

This was a fantastic campground for our larger group. The group sites were very spacious and secluded — perfectly shaded and easy access to the toilets. It was quiet the whole time, and a perfect location for accessing all of the dunes-related activities. One of the best tent-friendly campgrounds I’ve ever stayed at! We’ll be back.
