El Cortez Hotel and Casino

The most authentic old-school Vegas experience you can have. Original 1941 hotel that's been beautifully maintained. Rooms are surprisingly nice — the Cabana Suites are modern. The casino has the best low-limit tables downtown. The vibe is welcoming and unpretentious. This is real Vegas before the mega-resorts. Love this place.

My other review was when we just played slots and didn't stay at the hotel. This time we decided to stay. We stayed in a Premium Tower Room with a mountain view, and the room was better than we expected. It was very spacious, clean, and we really appreciated the vinyl flooring instead of carpet. I was a little concerned it might smell like smoke, but there was no smoke smell at all. The bathroom was large with a roomy walk-in shower, and the bed was very comfortable with plenty of pillows. We stayed for three nights and were never bothered by noise — it was quiet the entire time.||Having a Starbucks and a gift shop on-site was convenient for morning coffee and late-night snacks.||We ate at Siegel’s Restaurant our first night. The El Cortez hotel and casino were both excellent and we will stay here again. We stayed in one of the Original 47 rooms. Even though this section of the hotel is from 1941, the room itself was very clean, modern, and comfortable. The casino is welcoming and fun. This is a place where they will remember you when you return. The restaurants were also excellent. The location is right on Fremont Street and a block away from the Fremont Street Experience. The scale of this resort is certainly smaller than the large complexes on the strip, but this can be a big attraction if you are looking for a personal experience. One week later, we stayed at Caesar's Palace, which is also a fantastic property on a much larger scale. But when we return, we will be at El Cortez.

The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Despite staying there for the first time they made me feel like I'd been staying there many times. The facilities, design and architecture were of the old school atmosphere, but clean, well-maintained and upgraded. I was unable to go the Speigel's restaurant during my stay, but a friend of mine did and said it was great. I don't doubt it. I will stay there again.

One of my favorite casinos that I am going to miss when I move. My service 🐕‍🦺 Molly is probably going to miss all the people as well because she is always well received. She and I will also definitely miss the parking lot attendants that we have gotten to know as well. The casino is located just three blocks from the Ogden Executive apartments and is walking distance to the Fremont Experience. Besides the wonderful gaming experience at El Cortez, the El Cortez also has some excellent restaurants and bars, and also a Starbucks and a "food cart" type business inside for a very nice food and beverage experience.
