I have no idea what the rooms are like, or the friendliness of the employees. I tried making a reservation, but that didn't work. I emailed them with no response. The next day, when I needed to have a reservation, they didn't answer their phone. The Balloon Fiesta starts this week, so hotel and motel rooms are at a premium. The Hilton Double Tree went out of their way to figure out how to fine me a room for two nights. Also, the El Camino website is a free Wix site and runs very slowly. They do say that the El Camino restaurant is across the street, but do not mention that it has no connection to the motel. Only the name is similar. The unspoken implication is that the restaurant and motel are owned by the same people, which they are not.
Nice, quite place. older couple run it is quiet and nice. Never see them but can be noisy. Rooms r big but mind u of a cottage. Mostly thing work and get no soap,no remote control, and if you want clean towels you have to walk them up to the office.. yes I would rent there and they only take cash I think 60 dollars is a day is a little high but we love the quiet country/ in town scene.
Had to stay here do to the pandemic and it was aweful! The managers run hot and cold, the place is so old and out dated, beds feel like stone slabs, pillows may as well be none exsistent, bed cloths are full of holes. TV doesn't work. Honestly is expensive for what it is. Tiny bathrooms. Was that black mold in the shower? AC units don't work, they just blow hot air. And good luck trying to open the windows. They were painted closed! You have to supply your own towels, soap and toilet paper. House keeping never comes when you want them to come over, if they do at all! Management started blocking off both exits from the parking lot! Last I checked that is illegal! Plus they are nosey! They watch you! As if they have nothing better to do! Wifi doesn't even work! Gave us a room with an old da
The El Camino has all the charm and nostalgia you don't get at the big, fancy chain hotels. It's nestled in the Village of Los Ranchos on 4th Street, which is part of old historic Route 66. The proprietors also happen to be some of the nicest folks you're likely to meet anywhere. I'm definitely quite fond of this motel, and the El Camino diner across the street has some of the absolute best food in all of New Mexico.
I work in a remote location up in the mountains, so I often come into Albuquerque on the weekends. El Camino Motor Hotel is my favorite choice for lodging in the city. This is one of those classic "Route 66" motels with a big neon marquee and a small office with plenty of character. The value is hard to beat. If you are looking for upscale accommodations, I'd suggest looking elsewhere. If, however, you only require four sturdy walls, a roof, dry linens, a hot shower, and a heater or air conditioner for a good night's sleep, you've come to the best place in Albuquerque! The rooms appear to be stuck in time 25 years ago, and I mean this in a good way. For those who grew up on family road trips in the 1980s and 1990s, this will be an exciting return to those times.
