E.B. Morgan House

This opulent home from 1830's affluence on Cayuga Lake sent me down a wormhole, Googling wallpaper history and confirming that this resort was painstakingly renovated in period-correct detail with modern amenities in bath and kitchen that was the perfect backdrop to celebrate our 33rd wedding anniversary. Highly recommend!

The EB Morgan house is a beautiful inn developed from a gorgeous historic stone mansion, which sits upon the shore of Cayuga lake. There are only seven guestrooms, and there are a number of beautiful common areas, including an amazing porch with a great lake views. The house is immaculately decorated, and our room had a lovely view of the lake. The decor of our room matched the time-period of the house, but had may modern comforts, including a beautifully redone bathroom. We were greeted by Sheila, who is the innkeeper. Her friendly, welcoming manner set the tone for a great stay. Additionally, she had left a personalized handwritten welcome note in our room. We stayed here because when I called at the last minute this was the only room available. Did we luck out! The innkeepers were wonderful. Judy knew I wanted to experience a fire pit and she made sure one was going the last night we were there. We had some mores over the fire. I loved her ability to meet our needs. The most amazing thing was the interior decorations. AMAZING! Everything was perfectly coordinated. Pleasant ( the creator of American Doll ) worked hard to coordinate fabrics with wallpaper colors with her own collection. The bathrooms downstairs had Mackenzie Phillips collections in them as did the coffee mugs and plates specifically designed for this house. We had the most beautiful home of the Aurora homes. Stayed here for 2 nights on a Sat/Sun. Place was fairly full but did not feel busy. Quiet feel in an elegant and beautiful 1800s mansion. Room 7 was very nice and quiet with a nice lake view. Staff called in advance about a pipe leak that caused some minor cosmetic damage and offered a 25% discount. The communication was very professional from Kelly the director of rooms. We were called an hour before arrival to tell us that our room was ready. Maddie the house manager was always available and very professional. The breakfast was coffee, juice and house made granola bars but should have offered fruit/yogurt/cereal for a better selection. We arrived late afternoon on a beautiful day and were knocked out by the first impressions. Our Inn Keeper Maddy was the ideal hostess and after a totally painless registration made us feel as though we had arrived at a magnificent family residence, which we had. Stunning decor throughout and a truly delightful room (7). The designers are inspired and the staff obviously very highly trained with nothing out of place or in need of maintenance. Our drinks on the veranda overlooking the lake were just perfect. Our only huge disappointment was that we were only there for one night!
