Downstream Campground

We were set up to spend 2 nights, but ran into brake issues. So, we made it for the second night. What a nice campground, with nice large sites. Very clean bathrooms and showers. We will remember this campground for the future.

Downstream Campground along the Missouri River, below the Garrison Dam, was a great camping spot. We reserved site #70, in Loop 3. It was a large, level spot with views of the river. Plus there was access to dunes and a beach area at the far end of Loop 3. Cooling off in the Missouri River daily was a fun treat for Bella. There were walking paths to the hatchery and wildlife viewing areas. We rode our bikes past the power plant to Lake Sakakawea State Park and to Riverdale & Pick City. Pelicans and other waterfowl roosted each evening on a sandbar behind our section of the campground. We also saw a bald eagle. Yes, there were a huge amount of flies, so we recommend that campers bring some version of a screened shelter.

Campground was great. Took a first come first serve spot on Thursday and stayed through Sunday Aug 5. Nicely cleaned and bright shower houses. Big trees with lots of shade. Bingo and movies for the kids at an outdoor amphitheatre. Fishing pond with a fishing pier and benches. Had a great time with our two kids would definitely recommend.

Beautiful campground right along the Missouri River. Clean restrooms and showers. Camp hosts were very friendly. Plenty of trails to walk and easy access to fishing. Trails went along the wetlands area, and there was also a River loop. One of our favorite campgrounds.

Several loops of spaces, with restroom and shower facilities. Playgrounds, volleyball courts, Horseshoe pits, hiking/biking trails and an amphitheater. The spaces are very large with adequate shade. 50 and 30 amp electrical is available. Water scoures are available but not at each space. Sewer is a dump station. The campground is beautiful and quiet. The spaces are all back in but are angled to be very easy to negotiate. I will definitely come back.
