Down by the River Campground

We have been going to DBTR campground for several years. Our experience there has always been wonderful. A peaceful place with immaculate grounds where we feel safe at all times. It is a unique place for these reasons. We appreciate the ability to stay at a facility like this one which differs from most other parks. If this is the type of quiet environment you are looking for, DBTR is a great place to come!

This is a great family run campground. The highlights are that the campground is beautifully maintained and the campsites are large. They stagger the campers so that you are not on top of the camper next you. We found this campground three years ago and have been back every summer since. We initially picked this spot for its great location. It is set in a quiet area with easy access to highly desirable areas like Grandfather Mountain, Banner Elk, and Boone North Carolina. The high elevation allows us to escape the summer heat where we live. We highly recommend this campground if you are going to spend time camping in the NC mountains!

This was our fourth year at DBR. We absolutely love it there. The campground is immaculate. We have been to many campgrounds over the years and this one is far superior. We are seasonal residents from the beginning of May until the end of October. Last year many of us lost our places after Helene. The entire area was devastated. What the Loven family did to get the campground back over the last year was nothing short of amazing. The amenities are wonderful from the shower room to the grounds and laundry. With their WiFi we were able to stream our shows. It’s never been an issue. The sense of community is there with lots of activities sponsored by the social community and the Loven family. This coming year there will be a Pickleball court! Life in the mountains is so rich with many things

As a seasonal guest of DBR, I appreciate the management of Down By The River. They post the rules on their website and the clients must sign a copy of the rules. The sign by the highway and the website both say 55+ Campground. There is another sign just inside the grounds says "Grandparents at Play" , it does not say "beware of screaming wild kids running loose". The campground is well maintained, clean, has a GOOD FREE wifi and close to many great attractions in the area. As a retired property manager I had rules for the tenants in the properties I managed. A lot of the rules were added to the list because of the things tenants or their quest did. I recommend the campground to anyone 55 and over who wish to enjoy a pleasant safe place with great neighbors. =

Beautify kept campground with wonderful neighbors. The WiFi is great. I stream everything. Many activities available and the hosts are good people. Any complaint is unfounded and personal in nature. If they have any issue go elsewhere. We have looked extensively for the best campground and DBR is it by far. Barry and Robin
