Dovegate Inn

I am always hesitant to give a place a bad review unless I am really taken aback by the difference between what is offered online and what the actual experience really is. While the Dovegate Inn looks good from the photos, in reality it seems these innkeepers are really running more of a boarding house. While the room itself was clean, the common spaces were quite run down and dirty, as was the guest refrigerator. We never saw the owners or any staff and I think they like it that way. I think it's telling when Christmas decorations are still up in July, like snowflakes on windows and wall hangings that are seasonal but just flipped over to their back side until December comes along. There are not a lot of hotel options in town so I think that's how they survive, but I wouldn't recommen

Wonderful, with tasty food and a charming atmosphere, well worth the drive away from overcrowded Saratoga. We will be sure to return.

I stayed here with some friends, and it's overall a charming little inn. The garden room is so cute! I will say that the overall building could use a good deep clean. The bedrooms themselves are decently well kept but the bathroom floors could use a really good moping, the entry could be vacuumed and dusted, the overall place could be decluttered. I think the listing for the rooms could be updated as well. We found the garden room had more amenities than was listed like the bathtub and the day bed. Overall our stay was good though. It was a short drive to Saratoga, the host was very nice, and the rooms get wonderful light in the morning. I would like to come back in the future!

This place is a hidden gem. We stayed at the Garden Room which was spacious, very comfortable, and very quaint. All the rooms are on the second floor of this lovely historic house. It clean and comfortable and a great place to relax after a day traveling. Its located in walking distance to several cafes and restaurants. The day we were there the Inn's restaurant was closed. But I have eaten there in the past and the food is always excellent! Would highly recommend staying over at the Inn and I am looking forward to staying there again!

Dovegate Inn is lovely. Kitchen, food, chef, and waitress Nancy are all top notch. Dinner is phenomenal
