DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Montgomery Downtown

Hotel was mediocre overall, but the bartender truly saved the experience. He was personable, attentive, and made our stay so much better. We were there with a baseball team and ended up spending most of our time at the bar because of the great atmosphere he created. Definitely the highlight of the trip!

At check-in the woman was efficient but did not greet me. Another woman came out of an area behind the desk with the Doubletree cookie. I asked for a second cookie for my husband and it took her almost a minute to respond. |The lobby was extremely dark. The decor was out-dated. The ceiling was industrial, unfinished, open beam that increased the dated atmosphere. |The upper walkway felt unsafe. We actually checked and an adult wouldn’t be able to fall through the gaps. Positive: Ended up literally busting my leg open on a broken bed staff at night was good. Morning staff rude as heck. Leg was swollen and could hardly walk. This was by far the worst stay I have ever had at a hotel. The key cards were not working, my kitchen light didn't work so I couldn't see to make my coffee, then my coffee maker didn't work. The fridge didn't even keep my drinks cold. The drawers kept coming open and I couldn't get them to shut (my shin is bruised). The hotel was so loud at night, I couldn't get to sleep and the lobby smelled like pot. There were pubic hairs on the toilet, the shower was nasty, the white mirror lights were grimy and there was dust all over the room. I sneezed the whole stay. Then, when I tried to order room service (because they had to walk us up to our room anyway since the keys weren't working), they told me I had to come downstairs to view the menu. STAY AWAY from this place. The room was supposed to have a refrigerator and it didn’t. I had to argue with the front desk just to get one. They also wouldn’t honor my Diamond status in any meaningful way—no upgrade, no better room, nothing. The room itself was noisy and dirty. The shower was covered in hair, and the sink area literally smelled like vomit. By day three I requested housekeeping, and somehow a “Do Not Disturb” sign appeared on my door—one I did not put up. It felt like a cheap way to avoid cleaning the room and make it look like it was my fault. The bar and restaurant were terrible too: tiny portions for high prices. Front desk staff was “okay,” but not helpful enough to fix the bigger issues. Overall, the place felt trashy and poorly managed. I won’t be back.
