Dollinger's Courtyard

Passing thru Medina with a bike tour, there were no other options. We understood from the outset that this is an older, budget motel, so our expectations were low. The positives: a decent mattress, clean, convenient. The less-than-positive aspects: no drinking cups in the room; a very inadequate (for a motel) door lock, with no security latches. Since it opened to the outdoors, this made us a little nervous. A nice new toilet, but it wasn't bolted tightly to the floor, and as a result had a pretty significant wobble. Not a terrible experience, but a few simple improvements could make a big difference.

An older motel but under new management, the location is excellent. They do not offer breakfast but with a Dunkin Doughnuts across the street who cares. The rates are reasonable particularly on a holiday weekend when all the large motels ' rates skyrocket.

The staff is great, like having a friend just right next door. The location is a hub of conveniences. A great pizza place is right next door and a very nice Mexican restraint just down the street. Right on the cross roads of two main streets but still very quiet. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable. There's a mini fridge, microwave, cable, telephone, WiFi, and a coffee maker for amenities.

I was pleasantly surprised with the Dollinger Courtyard. From the reviews I had read on trip advisor, previous guests had painted a bleak picture of the motel's condition. True, the motel building is not in terrific shape but it is neat and pretty well-maintained. It is a simple, no-frills type of motel. If you're looking for all the comforts of home, drive 20-30 minutes away to the nearest hotel. The rooms we reserved were comfortable and clean. Our rooms did not have any stale smells or faulty bathroom facilities. The Dollinger Courtyard may not be the Waldorf Astoria, but it is reasonably priced (for being the only motel in Medina) and quite clean in my opinion. I would stay there again if I was in the area.

Property is a little dated, but the rooms are clean and quiet, well maintained.||All the amenities required; desk, fridge, coffee pot, microwave, a/c, wi-fi, & large flat screen TV. ||Small bathroom, not much room, but clean and functional. Daily cleaning service.||Pet friendly, we had 3 dogs, 2 little ones and one big one. Plenty of room for all three. Quiet, didn't hear my neighbors or any traffic at night.||Dunkin Donuts across the street. Gas and convenience store catty corner to the hotel. Busy intersection (relatively during the day) no drama at night. Rite-Aid on the other corner.||Downtown Medina (pronounced Mah-Dine-Ah - oh, okay) is only two minutes north with lots of quaint places to dine.||15 minutes south of Lake Ontario.
