Customer Reviews
We stayed at Devils Garden Campground in October and had an amazing experience. The location is unbeatable—just minutes from the Devils Garden Trail, which makes early morning hikes super convenient. The campground itself is well-maintained. The restrooms were clean throughout our stay, and I really appreciated the designated area for washing dishes. The best sites for Tent Camping in my opinion are #3, #4, #25, and #26—great views and good privacy. Devils Garden is absolutely worth it. I’d definitely stay here again!
This is tied for Jumbo Rock Campground in Joshua Tree for our favorite campground! Half of the sites backed up into the large red rocks and the other half had beautiful views over the mountains and valley, perfect for sunrise. The sites were separate enough to allow for privacy. All were equipped with a tent site and built in fire ring with grill. The bathrooms were easily accessible. Our volunteer camp hosts, Susan and Matt, also completely made the experience for us, ensuring we felt welcomed and found the right site!
There is no rooms for rent here but you can camp along the way. We had our dog with us and dogs are not allowed on hiking trails...? Strange to me but rules are in place for a reason. We didn't do many hikea due to having our dog. But we did try the offroad section. And unpaved road to tower arch. Make sure you have a capable 4x4 with good clearance and 4x4 low. Fun day for sure.
We loved staying at Devil's Garden Campground, it was so convenient to head out to the various and amazing hiking in Arches from this location. If you are an early riser you can be first on the trail to many of the close by sites. It also allows you to linger and mosey on some hiking right from the Campground late in the afternoon to gaze in wonder at the light how it plays on the rocks in Arches. Best least crowded Arch was Tapestry Arch, right from the back side of the campground. This particular Arch was amazing in the late afternoon light.
The campground is extremely well managed – the sites are clearly marked, well spaced, and offer beautiful surroundings. Everything was very clean, from the restrooms to the campsites themselves, which is impressive given how remote the area is. You can tell the rangers and staff take pride in keeping the campground in top shape. The only real downside is the lack of electric hookups. Like most national park campgrounds, Devils Garden is rustic, which we expected, but in mid-July, temperatures stayed around 104°F (40°C) even at night. While generators are allowed during certain hours, once quiet hours kicked in, it really felt like we were in the "Devil’s Garden" – nooooo. breeze….
