Deschutes Motel

Isn't a real hotel? I called two days in a row to check room rates and left messages and never got a return call. Also sent text messages and never got a reply. Drove by and looked empty and out of business. There was a sign in the door window, but it was old and faded by the sun and definitely not for anything current.

Wanting to get away from an overcrowded and too cool Portland, my bf and I often find ourselves driving over the mountain to sweet little Maupin. Such a great town with really wonderful people and as scenic as you can stand! I booked us for one night at The Deschutes Motel and we really loved it. We had such a great stay and we felt so at home that we extended our stay by a night. Dave was simply one of the nicest most engaging people we've encountered in our travels, and we travel plenty! The rooms were super clean and I mean CLEAN. The bed was pretty comfy and the water pressure in the shower was excellent! They provide coffee and a few toiletries in the room. The toilet broke so we couldn't use it in the morning, the bathroom sink was clogged and wasn't draining. The room we was in, had earwigs all over. I let the guy know who we purchased the room from and his reply was "no one has been in that room for 8 months" We never got a "I'm sorry", or "would you care to use a restroom in one of our other rooms", or "let me give you some money back on your stay." Which we paid cash for because he said he'd didn't know how to you the credit crd. machine. Maupin was awesome and beautiful, but will not recommend staying at Deschutes Motel.

We took a chance on this motel in spite of reviews that were all over the place. This was a perfect place for our family of 4 to stay for one night before a rafting trip. The room was clean. We appreciated our kids had two twin beds and there was a door separating those beds from the queen. Room had a fridge, microwave and coffee maker. Wi-Fi was spotty so Tv didn’t work most of the time. This didn’t matter as we were barely there. Check in was smooth and we were able to check in early. Gentleman at desk went out of his way to recommend a great place for dinner (Riverside) and even printed a map to help us find a fun place along the river to swim. If you are fussy or picky about an occasional bug in the room or some mildew in the shower caulking this place is not for you. But for a decent
