Dead River Landing Campground

I drove across the U.S. from east Florida and the first stop was here. I arrived after dark on a Monday night. There were just a few people there and we were all spaced far apart. It was quiet, and stayed that way all night. Upon waking I was pleasantly surprised to find a pretty campground next to a lake with beautiful trees and everyone had gone. I cooked breakfast on over a fire, ate under a sheltered picnic table and took a walk around the grounds. There is a porta potty there that was fairly clean. In all, it was a great experience and best of all FREE!

Portapotties are older but really clean, relatively speaking, and well stock. Campsites are spacious and numerous. There is even a playground along with the regular amenities of covered picnic tables, firepits, bbqs, launch. I saw turkey vultures and wild pigs.

Nice little free campground, outhouses were a bit dirtier than I would have liked and even with plenty of trashcans there was some litter. Overall quiet with good night skies

Will not stay there anymore because there are two many people living there and not camping
