Curtis Travelers Lodge

We have been staying here for years. We've had friends and family stay here many times also. The rooms are spotless and the location is great. John (the owner) is very nice and friendly. Curtis is such a cute little town and Traveller's Lodge has always been a great place to stay!

I already had rented a cabin, It was in horrendous condition. I knew that I could not stay there. I drove into Curtis MI. And found this motel. Nick was very helpful and even offered to help bring in my luggage! I can’t even remember when a motel employee ask if I needed help! I met John (the owner) that night also very kind and friendly. The rooms were spotless and really comfortable. I would recommend this motel to anyone.

I just needed one night stay in a quiet location away from the main highway #2 in the Upper Peninsula. Curtis is a little town just inland from the highway. Although I had phoned ahead and made my reservation directly with the motel, when I arrived at 6 pm there was no-one on the desk. A note was left on the counter with a phone number. Apparently John the owner had gone fishing. The front desk area (one could not really describe it as a lobby) opened directly onto the owner's living area and inside it was a total mess: dirty dishes, abandoned clothes, construction and cleaning materials, you name it. Clearly a bachelor lived here! There were no other guests. I was a single elderly woman travelling alone, and the area was deserted. Not a good scene, I thought. I was about to leave because

The owner is super nice and the rooms are very clean and well taken care of.

The outside of the motel is nice but when you get inside there is work that needs to be done. The room smelled like cigarette smoke and there were cobwebs on the ceiling above the beds. The bathroom smelled like mildew, the bathroom floor was rotting and lifting all next to the shower. The bathroom wall had mold on it, the shower curtain was covered in mold, the shower seat inside the shower had mold all over the bottom of it. There were just significant maintenance issues and cleanliness issues. The owners were very nice but those issues should and do need to be addressed.
