Cumberland Inn & Spa

Stayed for one night and it was adequate and clean, but nothing like a "luxury boutique inn" as it describes itself on the website. The photos on their website are misleading, I suspect at least 10 years old or just carefully framed/photoshopped to avoid showing the wear and tear. I wouldn't bother to review otherwise, but the advertising is so opposite to the actual experience that it feels necessary. Overall a 'serviceable, cheap motel' experience. I live in a 100+ year old house so I understand the quirks of historic buildings and wouldn't expect things to look brand new, but this building has not been well cared for. All the little details of longtime poor or deferred maintenance added up to a pretty sad whole. Multiple places in the room there were fixtures (mirror, door lock, etc) t

The room was decorated nicely and there was storage for bikes in the garage. However: There was no glass in the room for a drink or for use in the bathroom; There were no working outlets in the room except for the ones that lamps were plugged into. And there were no USBs. We were on bikes and needed to charge phones, watches and GPS. We had to put our devices in the lounge to charge; There was no place to hang clothes in the room; The bath towels were not much larger than hand towels; There was no ice to put in water bottles. There was a freezer - but no ice trays; There was a Keurig in the lounge but only styrofoam cups. What is this - McDonalds? Can’t we be trusted to use a ceramic cup? It would be so easy to make this a much more comfortable place to stay!

Beautiful Historic Inn. Clean and Spacious rooms. Relaxing lounge area with complimentary coffee and tea. Safe and affordable accommodations. Central location to local attractions. Great for business travelers and family vacations.

Very nice and inexpensive inn. Some rooms share bathrooms. Walkable to downtown Cumberland. Convenient to the bike trails and Amtrak. It has ambience which missing in so many chain hotels.

While the room was lovely, it was sparse. The people were not there to check us in. We got a door code by text and our room key was in the room door. There were NO amenities in the room. We had to search out a couple of cups for water from where they had a coffee and tea service. The history of the location is cool and you think you are staying in a historic inn you really weren’t. Pay a little more and stay in the Fairfield Inn, that is what we will do the next time in Cumberland.
