Courtyard by Marriott Topeka

It was much to our disappointment that our stay at a Marriott in Topeka turned out so unfavorable. When we arrived and were starting to unpack our room we had clean sheets but noted dried urine still on the toilet rim. The trash remained unemptied and there were splatters on the mirror. The floor also hadn’t been vacuumed and crumbs were visible in the carpet. That was our room at check in. When we called to front desk they did send someone up promptly to “wipe down” the mirror and toilet and to vacuum. No cleanser was noted but two cleaning rags brought up to “clean the bathroom”. The second night we returned to our room without any linen service noted prompting me to walk back down to front desk. Positive: Staff Negative: They are completely remodeling the exterior of the building. There is construction equipment everywhere, a tunnel built out of plywood to get into front entrance, most parking spaces are blocked off so the equipment can function. It looks a mess.

The staff was great! The young lady that checked us in was friendly and very helpful. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. On the down side we woke up to find ants on the desk, the fridge had a timer on in and believe it or not, this is the first place I have stayed that did not at least have coffee available in the lobby. There was a Starbucks that sold their overpriced brews but no wake me up coffee! No breakfast but I have found that be be less common anymore so no big deal. The motel is close to many fast food places so it was only a few minutes to go to Micky D's and get a couple of cups of coffee but still it would have been nice to have it without having to drive anywhere.

The room is quite spacious with clean and good service. Front desk staff are super nice and very helpful all the time. Wish they have some breakfast items available in the future. Overall very good experience stay and recommend.

Not impressed with this being considered a "Bonvoy Marriott" hotel. The people were nice but I get more for my money from Quality Inns or Comfort Inns as far as im concerned. Probably won't be staying at another Bonvoy hotel if it can be avoided.
