Continental Motel & Apartments

Before I booked this expensive motel, I was told that the beds had been updated!! The reason for my concern was, I was having severe back problems. After arriving, we went and complained because the beds were horrible!! The update consisted of a 1 inch foam mattress topper, and the sofa had a wood board under it trying to keep it from sagging. It was the most miserable five days at the beach due to the accommodations I paid good money for! I’m not complaining because it was old and dingy. I get it. It’s at the beach, but there is no reason that someone could not put decent mattresses on the beds and a decent sofa that when you sit on it you didn’t fall to the floor!!

This is by far the nastiest hotel that I’ve ever stepped foot in. We started out on the top floor, there was a birds nest in the AC unit in the bedroom with chirping babies so we were moved to 112. BLACK MOLD everywhere in the AC unit, bugs, place was disgusting. Ask for new pillows because they were stained yellow. When they brought new ones there were dead spiders and dead roaches in the bag. Maintenance man tried to tell me the mold in the AC unit that we were breathing in was dust. I was so shocked I didn’t have a response to him. Thankfully we found somewhere else to stay and didn’t have to sleep with the roaches. Save your money and sleep in your car.

I grew up here for a time. This place, like many buildings in Sunset, is old and prone to mildew. This building was incredibly old and moldy way back in the 90s, and to this day it remains the same building with very few changes. They need to go ahead and tear it down and rebuild. The location is awesome if you're willing to haul your stuff to the beach back and forth, because you're not going to find parking closer. Your best bet is to get one of the houses where you have beach access.

This condo is in a great location, and there’s free WiFi (though the document posted on the fridge has the wrong login information so I had to call to get access) and ceiling fans in both rooms. It’s a quaint little space that was cool and inviting when we walked in. There’s a full fridge that actually kept things cold, and it looked like there were new cooking utensils in the kitchenette area. (If you care about watching TV at the beach, there were flatscreens in both rooms—but we didn’t turn them on.) The issues I had with this place built up over our one night stay, though. The light cover on one of the fans was broken, and it rattled. There’s no fan/air circulation in the bathroom (which opens to the bedroom) so I showered with the bathroom door open, and we learned quickly to close

Save your money and sleep in your car. This is the nastiest place I have ever stepped foot in. First room wasn’t clean, they moved us to the second one and I was appalled that they actually rent these out. Maintenance man told me the black mold in the AC unit was DUST. I knew there was no hope in evening complaining when we had to ask for pillows because these were STAINED yellow all over them and they showed up with pillows in plastic bags that looked new but had dead spiders and bugs in them. Black mold everywhere. And I mean everywhere. This place needs a visit to be inspected because there’s no way it’s safe. When I say filthy I mean it.
