Beautiful trees, rocks, trails, history! We were here after a good rain and the washes were flowing nicely! A couple of waterfalls coming through the rock walls. Just gorgeous.

Did y’all play Cowboys and Indians when you were little… Yeah, this is the place that you imagined would be a great hideout and it was….for a little awhile…read the sign. Dirt road going in and he will have to cross some streams to get to the base of the mountains.

Having read some of the history about Cochise and his leadership of the Apache people, this was a preferred day trip. Awesome rugged scenery, we had a gorgeous day in the Dragoon Mountains.

A very beautiful place with huge rock mountains. The road in is a well-maintained dirt road, except for a couple of washboard areas.

Excellent lower use campground. The vault toilets are something of a different age (1950's) style of forest architecture. So no bidets here and because it is so remote the faculties are quite worn. Campsites are quite nice and you can pay by check or cash onsite at the entrance of the campground. There is a great set of displays featuring Native American culture and Cochise. There are several trails leading from here for the more adventuresome. Be extra careful with fire as this place has less maintenence to remove leaf litter which is highly flammable. We visited here May 2025.
