Chestnut Retreats

Recently stayed here with family. Easily slept 6 adults & 2 littles. The house has everything you need for a few nights stay including a clean kitchen with pans & utensils for cooking, dishes, Keurig, French Press coffee maker. The first day it rained the entire day. We were grateful there was a tv w/ DVDs, some streaming services. We honestly couldn't figure out how to use any of the streaming services. Couldn't get the TV connected, Kids just watched a movie. There's a handful of board games & books there if you're staying in. Day 2 started out great! Had a wonderful family breakfast, & then came the educational portion of our stay 🤣😒... The driveway is much stepper going up than it appears to be going down. The 4X4 /4WD VEHICLES ONLY is not a recommendation; it is to be taken seriously

Lovely place to stay! We were very impressed! It does have a VERY steep driveway, but it's manageable with a 4 wheel drive. The only disappointments were the landline was not working, there were no canoes by the lake like in the picture, and the lake was pretty gross so we didn't swim (but we drove to Hocking hills park which is close by and had fun). I definitely recommend this place!

Great getaway place for a family! Sleeps up to 8 with the futon in the living room! No cell phone or internet service, which was great because it kept our kids off of their "devices". The house is clean, comfortable, and fairly secluded. The only downside is you will need an all wheel drive vehicle to navigate the steep driveway. We highly recommend staying here!

Our family had a wonderful time at Crane’s place! It is a very quiet, clean, secluded newer 3 bedroom home tucked in a hillside next to a private lake. Plenty of room for families and the kitchen has pretty much everything we needed. Please do heed the “4x4 needed” to access this home in the woods. Not just AWD but something with ground clearance and preferably 4 low. Turn left at the Crane’s place sign on Trillium and the adventure begins! Wife and kids loved the decent down the driveway, totally added to the experience. Worth every bit of it. Take the path to the lake and you will find a small fishing dock with a bench. FLEAS OR BED BUGS!! I recently stayed at Crane's Place and after the first night we noticed small bites, in clusters, on our bodies. We inspected the beds and found several bugs that we believe to be fleas. Upon arriving home, I sent an email to Lisa Gresko who handles the reservations for Crane's Place. I was very polite in the email, letting her know what we had found, hoping that we could save the next family who stayed there. After three days with no response, I called Lisa to make sure she received my email. She then accused me of making the whole thing up, even after I sent pictures!!!! She was very rude and not sympathetic at all. BEWARE IF YOU DECIDE TO STAY AT CRANES PLACE!
