Special place. It's like stepping back in time. Victorian building so no air conditioning in dining room. Rooms have window air conditioners.

We just returned from a week at this lovely, friendly, and well-situated inn on the grounds of Chautauqua Institution. Harry, Nancy, and Laura could not be friendlier or more helpful (Harry even showed us how to make an eclipse viewer, since he was formerly a science teacher!). Breakfast is modest (coffee, tea, and homemade muffins) but most enjoyable because it allows the guests to socialize. Rooms are spacious and include full size refrigerator, microwave, and some dishes/glasses. No locks on the room or outdoor doors! Which seemed weird at first but was very convenient (and in keeping with Chautauqua!). Best part are the multiple porches with rockers, one with a view of the lake, and the location - 1 1/2 blocks from Bestor Plaza yet on a quiet street. It was our first time spending a we

Let me start by saying; the inn keepers are very nice people. Harry let us check in an hour early, which was very generous. Breakfast isn’t really breakfast, it’s coffee, juice and muffins. WiFi didn’t work for us, but it was late in the evening when we tried to connect and we didn’t want to bother the inn keepers. ||Things to note: the house is OLD. Yes...there’s a lot of historical homes in the area, but the rooms are old, carpet looks dirty and room smells of moth balls. This was a 177$ room with two twin beds. Very expensive for what is was. BUT the location was great for going to the amphitheater. Be aware: you cannot really drive through the streets there! Park your car in the lot and walk in...I wish someone had told us. In fact there are lots of little rules and things for Chautauq

This is a little charming gem, well located in the Chautauqua Institution. We have stayed here at least once a year for several years now. The hosts are warm, friendly, lovely people. They encourage guests to mingle, provide a simple breakfast and are a wealth of information and comment. It is like staying with friends. The rooms are smallish, very clean and with bathrooms and modest kirchens. The verandahs are a great place to relax, enjoy a glass and a light meal. If you are attending a theme week at Chautauqua, this is a wonderful choice that you will not regret.

Welcoming hosts, friendly down-to-earth fellow guests. Nice mini-kitchen set-up in the room. Continental breakfast is minimal, but if you plan ahead, not a problem. Bring some groceries. Lots of options on the grounds too. Circa 1874 Victorian with some view of the Lake from back porches. Definitely want to return.
