Athenaeum Hotel

Super nicely maintained old Hotel. Rooms very clean and plenty large enough for 2 people. Our room didn't have much of a view but the veranda and grounds offered spectacular views. Several weddings taking place during our stay. Well coordinated and actually very entertaining for a people watcher like me.

The Athenaeum Hotel is a very old and nice hotel, antiques throughout but very nice. Staff was attentive and helped with issues when they came up. The only issue is you can't park near the hotel and need a shuttle to take you back and forth to the parking lot but overall it was still worth it.

We had no idea this was in a gated community. We were in a truck traveling through and this cam up as a local hotel. If you are coming for the destination you will probably be satisfied but if you are using it as a stopping point on a trip across country like we were you will be disappointed. Thankful they refunded me.

This is a very tired old hotel in need of major updating. My room was in the annex, a charmless additional building with no views, only one window that could be opened, a tiny bathroom, only a straight chair. It was clean and the bed was comfortable. The service to the rooms is great - clean towels each day. My plan included meals, all of which were buffets. Breakfast was plentiful and good, lunches and dinners uniformly mediocre. The front porch is a nice place to sit but seating is hard to find. There are not many options at Chautauqua but if I return I will look for a different opportunity.

This hotel is absolutely oozing with rich history everywhere you look. The grand doorways and high ceilings are like no other. Tall windows line every room with beautiful handcarved molding! Staircase boast daintily throughout the hotel. Pieces of history are literally stuck in time as you walk around this historic gem! This gorgeous hotel is absolutely amazing and is like nothing you will ever see! Not to mention, the staff are so kind and helpful! Very respectful! 100 out of 10 you must come and see all this hotel and neighboring properties have to offer!
