Chatuge Woods Campground

The view is incredible. The campground is right on Lake Chatuge with the Blue Ridge mountains in the background. It is very primitive but makes it feel more intimate and private. During the week it is very quiet but comes alive on the weekends.

Awesome campground! Great views. Crowded, but spaciously so. Only issue was a lady that past me while leaving campground, missed her site apparently and rear-ended me as I was following my friend out, causing $2,000 in damage! That sucked. 🤐

Simple and easy to access from Hwy 76. Lots are not very level, so make sure you bring levelers. We opted for a lake view site and fell in love. Site 49 was a back in site and easily accessed. Someone did leave a sleeping bag, so we had to clean up after someone else, but that wasn't a big deal...but it seems since covid, camping etiquette has wained a bit. Memorial Day Weekend was on the end of our trip, and this place seemed to fill up fast. Reservations are a must. Dump stations were easily accessible and the water and power were clean. Restaurants are close, as is Hiawassee and Young Harris (shout out to the Wing House). A lot of kids were here, so being alert as you arrive or leave is a must also. We were told over the phone that our site was the best with views and water access. When we got there we tried to set up our camper length wise to the lake which was impossible due to the grade of the lot. We ended up putting our camper opposite the lake, I was worried our camper would end up in the lake somehow. The lots are all dated and could use some work. The ones we saw were not level and would puddle under the camper with rain. This place is owned by the county and you would think with all the money that is generated by rental that they would do a little work on the lots. The bath houses are few and far between and are old and could use some updating. My mom has her camper here for the season and we have visited a few times. Her spot is right next to the lake and its beautiful view. Great people and service!
