Capitol Plaza Hotel and Convention Center

I've been attending conferences and staying at this hotel for over a decade now. Staff have always been great to work with, easy check in and hospitable service with breakfast and conference meals. However, the rooms are deteriorating fast and I do not plan to stay here anymore for this reason. I can’t unsee the mold in the cracks of the ceilings, heavy stains on the chairs, and ratting of the carpet. This used to be a beautiful hotel, and I hope renovations are anticipated soon!

It’s a little dated, but it’s pretty darn good. My company has hosted some consulting & leadership development groups here. The rooms were sufficient and beds comfortable. The bathrooms felt like could use some updating, but all in all comfortable. ||Great location in middle of downtown, with easy and ample parking onsite. The in-house catered food seemed to be fine as well, as all of our participants seemed to be satisfied with it.

Lobby is beautiful and a huge atrium where I watched a few young boys play indoor hockey. Nice resteraunt. Indoor bar area with tvs for sports. Decent variety of well and premium alcohol. Few choices of beers and wines. Downside they do not take cash. Nice menu for breakfast lunch and dinner from sandwiches to burgers to pastas. Very reasonably priced with good portions and very good tasting. Bartenders friendly and make a good cocktail. Indoor pool thats well maintained. Very nice glass elevators ('m not a fan due to heights thing) that are clean and quick. Desk staff super nice and efficient. Room was OK. Some wallpaper peeling, TV a bit small but Google cast capable. No mini fridge or microwave in room as they want you to eat there which is fine but I took left overs from the bar there

Positive: This hotel was well positioned near the Hwys and was off of a quiet area Negative: They charged me to park even though the parking lot was only about 15% full. The check in staff seemed to be bothered to have to do her job. The hotel was probably very fashionable in the 70s, but needs to be updated. I expected more for a 3.5 star.

Pros: It's Clean Cons: dated - the wallpaper turned 30 today. Hot water is mostly warm. Room smelled like dusty AC Cable channels not available Front desk wouldn't honor our friend's Priceline booking. No ice water or water period available for guests...they'll sell you 6 dollar 1 liter bottle of water though. The only reason we stayed here is because the rest of team was staying there for a tournament.
