I'm giving this a 5 out of 5 because I can ride, show up unannounced, drop in an envelope with money, and stay the night without having to plan around this place. I pack my things I'm the morning, and simply leave. Simple. Whatever happened to simple? I stop and pitch my tent here every time I visit big bend.
Gravel park, very basic, DIY check-in and limited facilities. But all utilities worked and there was lots of room. Did not try the WiFi but we had decent (2-3 bars) ATT cell service for good phone and hot-spot without using the booster. Right between the train tracks and highway but surprisingly neither were a significant disturbance. We've stayed there twice and will stay again. Perfect layover if you've traveling that area.
Fairly priced, quiet place with good people. Shower was perfectly hot and clean bathrooms overall. Arrived at night and used the self check-in, the owner came over to make sure I‘m okay. Appreciate it. Felt safe here as a solo female cyclist. Outlets for charging right by the tent area. 7$ is a fair deal
Stayed part of one night when travelling from Uvalde to Albuquerque. All the motels were full. 2 of us slept in our minivan next to the tent area. It was pleasant, though barren. But barren is what this territory is all about. The restrooms were decent and working, with no frills. For $7 we got showers and place to park. To us, a great deal. At about 2:30 am a train came around the bend blasting its horn and headlight right into the park. I went from deep sleep to flight or fright mode in a millisecond. Now that I was awake, I went to the restroom, then hopped into the van and resumed my journey in the darkness of night. No way I'd get back to sleep after that rude awakening. I'd stay here again, but I'd be certain to sleep with earplugs.
This little campground in the middle of nowhere on the way to Big Bend country had every thing a camper would need. Full hookups for your rig, shade, plenty of room to maneuver a big rig without unhooking your tow vehicle. They even have an area for folks that are tent camping. They have bathrooms and laundry. Dark skies and the occasional train going by make this a wonderful stop. It has a self service pay station, just drop your money in the piggy. We would definitely stay here again.
