Thanks from the Garden State! Danny was such a warm host! We arrived very late and tired, and he was so welcoming with drinks and snacks. Rooms are a time capsule and brought back memories of my grandmother’s house. The room was large with all the amenities (king bed, fridge, coffee pot, TV, microwave, AC/heat), and the bathroom had a fantastic shower. Updating a few details would make this a complete five-star experience: a new toilet seat and replaced carpet or other flooring in the bedroom. Overall, we were very pleased to have a comfortable place to stay in such a rural place before heading to Big Bend!

For an old school “Motor inn” that has not been updated this is a great place stop and rest. The gentleman who manages the Sanderson Tx Budget Inn is very helpful & as others have said has snacks to offer with your room. The beds are firm & comfortable. Great hot water for a shower or a good soak after a long day of driving or hiking (Sanderson is the Cactus Capital so worth investigating too). It is a 2 star style accommodation but worth the 5 stars for comfort.

Be advised that between Alpine and Del Rio there is nothing. We stayed in Sanderson which has two motels. It’s pretty much a dead place They have supposedly three restaurants all of which are closed. The Stripes gas station has only chips and soda. So it’s a food desert. |We did find Ferguson Motors which is the only breakfast place around. They have breakfast sandwiches and coffee which was pretty good. |If you are headed that way and are in between Alpine and Del Rio, you are better off continuing to one or the other.

We stayed her in 2012 on our Southern Tier bicycle tour and came back in 2026 to see Danny who had treated us so kindly on our first visit. He was so friendly and helpful to us then and we were lucky he was still here now. The hotel is open again after being closed during CoCod and if you stop here you will be treated well and have a comfortable room to stay in.

Arrived in late after a long day of cycling!Danny was very flexible and communicated well as we had to change our dates due to unforeseen circumstances. The rooms were basic but clean and functional. Danny is a gem of a human being- kind, accommodating and a great person. He even offered to drive 50 miles to return a charging cable we left in the room! Too kind!!!
