Travelers beware: The Candle Wood Suites in Davenport, Iowa was very different from our experience at previous Candle Wood Suites. As a result, I am sharing this review as a warning. First, the room was not cleaned well. Secondly, this location only cleans the room if you are there for seven days or more. This was the policy displayed in the bedroom as of August 10, 2025. Third, there are potential additional costs for using dishes. You will need to wash the dishes to avoid the charges. The fourth concern was caused by a day filled with television interruptions because the business uses the Dish Network and it rained all day. I have been staying at this location every week since the beginning of October for my job. I love it. The staff is very friendly and accommodating and the rooms are always fresh and clean. The coffee is also good so that is a bonus! ||||They will have cookies once a week that are individually wrapped at the front desk which also adds a nice touch that you don't get just anywhere!||||Thanks for a great stay each week! I ended up in urgent care with mold exposure after one night at this hotel. My first room (#207) was unsafe: the mattress was unusable, and the comforter I slept on had visible mildew and a strong mold odor. I woke up wheezing and short of breath, and a doctor confirmed mold exposure as the likely cause. I missed work, incurred medical bills, and needed prescription treatment because of this. While the front desk staff were kind and moved me to Room 208 (which was clean), the general manager dismissed my documented experience, ignored my voicemail for over 24 hours, and implied my claim wasn’t valid — despite photos and medical documentation.
