Camp Monterey

What does it mean when a reviewer is a "local Guide"? Delete all of them if they have not been a camper there. I will tell you just how wonderful this camp is. I started there in 1951 and was a camper for 8 years. My daughter went there, and my granddaughters went there. I now go back every year to judge the horse show. This camp shaped who I am today - my morals, my ethical standards and my relationship with nature. And with some of the truest friends ever - after 69 years! We still keep in touch.

My daughter and niece have been campers for years and both love it! In the foothills of the Cumberlands, it’s always a comfortable temperature, and the experience is amazing. The cabins are very rustic, making for an old fashioned camping experience. I worked there part of one summer in the kitchen... the meals are amazing and it was a great experience for me too!

My daughter loved her first year at Camp Monterey this past summer. She overcame a lot of anxiety being away from home and wants to go back next year! While rustic, the cabins were clean and well maintained, as well as the rest of the facilities.

This place has a pulse. I grew up here and learned most everything I value and hold close to my heart today. I'm the little kid in flagline on the website almost 15 years ago haha. I learned to love nature and people and life, and so much more I can't fit in a review, simply beautiful I miss it every single day:(<3

One of my favorite places on earth. I loved my 6 summers there as a camper in the ‘80s and I’m still going back every summer to work.
