Calafia Inn

This hotel is in a decent location in San Clemente that allows you to easily drive to meals or to the beach or to the downtown area. It is located right on El Camino, the main drag of San Clemente, and on the otherside the i5 Freeway, so it is a pretty noisy stay with constant road noise and traffic. ||The rooms are super clean. The check in is kinda awkward, but you get what you need. It is important that you specify to them what time you will be there. This isn't like a hotel chain where you walk up and check in whenever, they are expecting you and waiting for you and like to know what time you'll arrive. ||As I said before, the rooms are super clean. Six out of five :) lovely owners were super nice. Room was really clean and so quiet. Comfy bed. Everything I needed and a great price. It’s a neat old style motel which is now all refreshed to modern style. It’s just a quick drive to the pier and the area with all the cool bars and nice places to eat. There is a great place for breakfast called Sugarshack which is 200 yards away :)

Staff was incredibly kind and accommodating. Rooms were clean, neat, and gave you everything you need in a hotel room. I am definitely coming back here next time I'm in San Clemente!

A lovely place to stay with clean facilities, friendly staff at a reasonable cost. There is a small kitchen facility on site and local restaurants and bars nearby. We enjoyed our stay and will be back.

I stayed at the Calafia Inn for a few days in June while in town to surf. It’s a clean, comfortable, and recently updated motel with that charming surf-motel vibe—simple but well-renovated and cheerful. The location couldn’t be better—not far from the beach beach, with easy parking and great access off the freeway. The hosts are exceptionally friendly, professional, and eager to help. Whether answering my questions or offering local tips, they made everything smooth. All the amenities I needed were there, and the value for what you get is outstanding. This place is truly a hidden gem in San Clemente—I’ll stay again without hesitation!
