This was my favorite campsite during my first BWCA trip. We brought a group of 12 students and 4 staff on our annual Outdoor Education trip. We split into two groups of 8 and our camp stayed at #845. We put in at Sawbill Lake and we only had 2 short portages to get to Alton Lake. I loved falling asleep and waking up to the waves lapping against the shore as my hammock overlooked Alton Lake. The other camp stayed at #846. The sites are within walking distance which was nice for our group.
For me it’s 5 stars campsite, if you stand up on the rock you can get signal 🤗😁.
Nice site! Plenty of space and if you can cast far enough, there are some bass off the landing. Bugs weren't too bad either. The landing is OK, but not great.
