Bretz Mill Campground

We had our first annual church camp last weekend. Definitely a great spot to start it off. Pros: 1. Knee high waters for younger kids 2. 9 ft deep spot for older kids and adults 3. Multiple camp sites 4. Food storage boxes 5. Restroom was cleaned during our stay 6. Quick drive to get wood for fire Cons: 1. Skunks, there's a gang of them and they're not scared 2. It was cold at night but really, really hot during the day unless you're in the shade 3. When you turn onto Tollhouse, the road is really curvy. Some of our party had to take dramamine. No shower No water (use the creek) FCFS, no reservations or fees

​Bretz Mill is a true hidden gem in the High Sierra. If you are looking for a peaceful, primitive camping experience away from the crowds of Shaver or Huntington Lake, this is it. The sites are well-spaced and the proximity to the creek provides a perfect natural soundtrack. ​I was fascinated by the history of the old sawmill that used to be here—it adds a really unique layer to the atmosphere. Beautiful camping off the beaten path. Bring water, TP, and bear spray. Keep a clean campsite!

Very remote location. First come, first serve. No reservation fees. Near the creek. Its very shallow so our children can enjoy the stream, within eye-distance, worry-free.

Very quiet . Very clean restrooms . Plenty of fire wood clean camp sights
